TriYAS race close to selling out

The community race TriYAS is close to selling out, with fewer than 200 places remaining, organisers said.

The event, on February 20 at Yas Marina Circuit, has an Olympic category, with a 1,500-metre swim, 40-kilometre bike race and 10-km run, and the shorter Sprint category, involving a 750-metre swim, 20km bike course and 5km run.

Michael Bitzer, chief executive of Daman, the sponsor, said: “At Daman, we are very keen to engage with the community in order to effect positive lifestyle change.” KidsTRI will debut this year, and is open to young people aged 12 to 17. There is also a women-only category.

The UAE’s only twilight triathlon is open to all first time racers, as well as experienced triathletes. “We remain focused on our objective of raising awareness and educating the UAE’s residents on the importance of regular exercise and leading a healthy lifestyle,” he said.

Entry fees are Dh375 for the Olympic length, and Dh300 for the Sprint. Users can register here.
