Licences will help RAK trade in honey

All beekeepers and honey sellers in Ras Al Khaimah will now have to be licensed.

Dr Saif Al Ghais, executive director of the Environment Protection and Development Authority, said the initiative was aimed at sustaining resources, preserving plant and biodiversity, and protecting the honey trade as a national legacy for future generations.

An authorised list of apiaries will also allow the authority to carry out effective inspections, further protecting the industry, Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National reported.
