More than 90 per cent of Middle East and North Africa workers believed Ramadan lifted their morale at work.
In a poll conducted by regional job site Bayt.com, Ramadan in the Mena Workplace, 94.5 per cent called it a peaceful, spiritual and special month, while 44.5 per cent said that employer efficiency was not affected. Fifty-five per cent did not postpone important decisions or vital meetings until the end of the month.
“Ramadan is a month of beauty, mercy and blessings, revolving around doing good deeds and practising self-restraint,” said Suhail Masri, Bayt.com’s vice president of sales.
He noted 43.1 per cent of professionals said that more Ramadan working hours would have a positive impact on their performance.
Business was slower during Ramadan, 74.7 per cent of respondents said, something 46.4 per cent strongly believed.
Nine of 10 professionals, or 86.9 per cent, said companies they worked for had different working hours during Ramadan compared to the rest of the year.
Data was collected online from 7,394 respondents from the UAE and 12 other countries in the region.
