Mubadala has further increased its commitment to develop the next generation of Emirati scientists, engineers and technicians by offering training and job opportunities through its Aerospace, Communications Technology and Defence Services (ACTDS) business unit.
“Mubadala ACTDS is making significant progress in growing its businesses,” said Homaid Al Shemmari, its executive director.
“We are not only focused on providing sustainable financial returns for Abu Dhabi, but also social benefits for the Emirate and the whole of the UAE.”
The 21 companies within the ACTDS, including Strata Manufacturing, Al Taif, Yahsat and the Advanced Military Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Company, have committed to creating 4,000 jobs for UAE nationals.
Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi strategic investment company, is also building on its research and development, with an annual budget of more than Dh36.7 million on aerospace research and design by 2015.
At this year’s Dubai Airshow, Mubadala and Khalifa University announced the joint development of a Dh55m aerospace research centre, which will focus on composite aerostructures and automating its manufacturing.
Mubadala recently signed an agreement with UAE University to establish a minor course in aerospace engineering in the department of mechanical engineering.
The programme aims to develop a curriculum and laboratories to give students the skills to enhance the UAE’s aerospace industry.
