NCMS warns of blowing dust, reduced visibility

A warning of blowing and suspended dust is in effect for the Al Dhafrah region this morning.

The National Center of Meteorology and Seismology also cautioned the public to be aware of fresh southeasterly to northeasterly winds that may reduce visibility to less than 2,000 metres at times, over any exposed areas across most of the country until 9pm.

Wind speeds are expected to reach between 18 and 30 km/h, increasing to 40km/h at times, stirring up the sea leading to moderate to rough conditions at times in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.

Earlier this morning, light rain fell over the Baniyas area, according to the NCMS.

A chance of towering clouds forming over the eastern and southern areas may lead to some rainfall this afternoon.

Temperatures will continue to be hot to very hot, reaching highs of 40°C to 45°C along the coast, 43°C to 49°C in the interior and 30°C to 39°C in the mountains. Humidity will be highest along the coast, where it will range between 65 and 90 per cent.
