Anyone visiting a Dubai police station must present a negative PCR test issued within the past 48 hours. The new requirement will come into force on Saturday. Individuals who have taken both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine are exempt from the ruling. As an alternative to visiting in person, Dubai Police called on people to utilise its smart phone application or to visit the force’s website. Residents can also reach a 24-hour police operator by calling 901, or use the self-service Smart Police Stations which are located around the city, including on City Walk and Dubai Design District. The directive is the latest in a raft of regulations introduced in the emirate to stem the spread of Covid-19. Last week, revised safety precautions in Dubai led to a reduction in capacity of indoor venues, including cinemas and entertainment halls, to 50 per cent. The capacity of shopping malls, hotels, private beaches and swimming pools was cut to 70 per cent, and restaurants and cafes were instructed to close by 1am, and to cancel all entertainment activities. The firework displays at Global Village were also cancelled, and all theatre shows suspended until further notice. Dubai Health Authority also reviewed its guidance for residents who come into contact with someone who is Covid-19 positive. Anyone who spends more than 15 minutes within 2 metres of an individual with coronavirus is instructed to quarantine at home for 10 days, even if they test negative during that time.
