One person died and eight were injured in a collision involving four vehicles in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi Police said on Friday the accident happened under the Mafraq Bridge in the direction of Abu Dhabi, on Thursday evening. Lt Col Dr Musallam Al Junaibi, head of the Accident Investigation Department at the Abu Dhabi Department of Traffic and Patrols said initial investigations showed the accident was caused by sudden swerving and tailgating. “Not paying attention to the road and failing to leave sufficient safety distance between vehicles caused the accident, after a vehicle suddenly swerved to the left and hit the road barrier,” said Lt Col Dr Al Junaibi. The eight people injured were transferred to Mafraq Hospital. He urged motorists to adhere to the speed limits and traffic rules, leave sufficient safety distance between vehicles, avoid stopping in the middle of the road or at hard shoulders, and always pay attention to the road.
