An FNC member has called on the President, Sheikh Khalifa, to raise pensions for military veterans.
Dr Abdullah Al Shamsi (Ajman) said it was unfair that pensioners who retired before 2008 received less than those who retired later.
Dr Al Shamsi said many veterans were living in unbearable conditions, struggling to afford necessities.
"Some are working in jobs that are degrading for a local," he said.
The call was originally directed to the Minister of State for Financial Affairs, Obaid Al Tayer, but he said the ministry did not have a list of military pensioners.
