DUBAI // Special fitness and nutrition camps have been set up to help those taking part in the Your Weight in Gold campaign.
The medical advice is being offered in addition to the three sports days set up for participants.
The municipality has started the camps at the registration centres where initial weigh-ins were held.
"These camps will be available on every Wednesday and Thursday till the end of August," said Yusuf Murad Salmeen, head the media department at Dubai Municipality.
"Experts and health consultants will be available to impart necessary instructions and advise participants, to assist them to complete the mission in a safe and healthier way."
These facilities will be open from 5pm to 9pm to anyone who wants to check their health and weight-loss progress.
They will also offer advice on healthy eating and tips for shedding the kilos in safe ways.
Common mistakes include eating a salad with little or no dressing - you must add protein and a little fat to feel fuller for longer.
Eating barley or high-fibre bread for breakfast helps you avoid a spike then drop in blood sugar, which will make you feel hungry.
And drink two litres of water every day and eat fruit instead of drinking juices, which contain fruit sugars.
