Nearly 10,000 pilgrims have returned home to the UAE from Haj through Al Ghuweifat border crossing in the past three days.
The At Gharbia land port has recorded about 420 buses carrying 9,886 people, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National.
Border authorities intensified efforts to ensure smooth traffic, and buses carrying 40 pilgrims each spent no more than 10 minutes at passport control.
Thousands more pilgrims are returning through the airports in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
