One person died and seven others were injured in a car crash on Baniyas Bridge in Abu Dhabi.

Police said the accident happened on Sunday after a Toyota Land Cruiser collided with an oncoming car and smashed through a wall.

An Emirati man died in the crash while the injured were treated at the scene before being taken to Al Mafraq Hospital.

Baniyas Bridge is on the Abu Dhabi to Al Ain Road, near Baniyas Park. Abu Dhabi Police urged motorists to leave a safe distance between vehicles.
