Heavy fog covered Abu Dhabi and most of the Western Region this morning.

Police warned motorists to be extra cautious due to low visibility throughout Abu Dhabi and on highways.

Flights arriving into Abu Dhabi Airport from New Delhi were diverted to Sharjah International Airport due to the thick fog.

An Emirates spokesperson said the fog had no effect on their flights.

Foggy conditions are likely to continue throughout the day coupled with partly cloudy skies, according to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology.

Fresh winds will result in a drop in temperature with a range of 10°C to 28°C expected internally and 14°C to 26°C along the coast.

Seas will be rough to very rough in the Arabian Gulf and Sea of Oman.

Humidity is expected to increase overnight, leading to more fog on Tuesday morning, the bureau reported.
