Six workers have been rescued after a wall collapsed, trapping them under a pile of debris.

Ajman Civil Defence said the incident took place about noon on Sunday in the Hamidiya residential district.

The men, described as Asian and African, were working on a villa when they were struck by falling bricks.

Firefighters worked with colleagues from Sharjah Civil Defence to dig the men out and ambulances took them to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Ajman.

Brigadier Mohammed Ali Jumeirah, director of fire stations at Ajman Civil Defence, urged to contractors to abide by safety rules to protect workers lives.

The authorities did not state the definitive cause, nor say whether action is expected to be taken against their employer.
