The brother of Palestinian protester Ahed Tamimi has been arrested by the Israeli military in the occupied West Bank, her family have said. Mohammed Tamimi, 15, was arrested by soldiers who broke into the family home early on Monday, according to his father, Bassem Tamimi Mr Tamimi said Mohammed had broken his arm over the weekend running away from tear gas during a protest in their village, AP reported, and that he had suspected his son had been throwing stones at Israeli soldiers. Their cousin Mu'ayyid was arrested in a separate home raid in the town, the Times of Israel reported. The Israeli military said it had arrested 21 Palestinians overnight for rioting and other disturbances, without providing further details. Mohammed's mother, Nariman Tamimi, shared a video of what is claimed to be his arrest on Facebook. Ahed, now 18, is seen hugging her brother, whose arm is in a cast and sling. The family are seen getting him ready and giving him water as soldiers crowd their home, and Ahed shouts, “stop, or I will hit you” as they escort him out of the home. The Tamimi family is known for their anti-occupation activism and Mr Tamimi began organising protests in his village of Nabi Saleh in 2008 after Israeli settlers took control of a nearby freshwater spring. Ahed served eight months in prison for slapping two Israeli soldiers who shot her 15-year-old cousin, also called Mohammed Tamimi, in the face with a rubber bullet. He survived, but was left severely injured. A video of the incident was shared widely online and Ahed, who was just 16 at the time, rose to global prominence as a symbol of Palestinian resistance to Israeli military rule.
