Kuwait on Monday postponed sittings of Parliament by a week after several MPs were found to be infected with Covid-19.
National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al Ghanim said the sessions scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday would now be held on September 22 and 23.
Mr Al Ghanim said the decision was made on recommendations of the Health Minister after two more MPs tested positive for Covid-19, taking the total to five.
He said all members of Parliament and employees of the Council of Ministers General Secretariat would be tested on Saturday as there was the possibility of further spread after the house sat for three consecutive days.
The government also delayed the fifth and final phase of its reopening plan indefinitely after a steady increase in daily new cases since the start of the month, the Centre for Government Communications said on Twitter.
The fifth phase would have allowed cinemas and gymnasiums to reopen and social events such as family gatherings and weddings to resume.
Kuwait reported 708 new coronavirus cases on Monday, bringing the total number of infections to 95,472.
The Health Ministry said there were three more death in the previous 24 hours, taking the toll to 563.
And 506 people recovered from the virus, raising the number of patients given the all-clear to 85,501.
