Al Jazira have dismissed Ibrahim Diaky's claims he is "negotiating a move to Al Ahli" and said they expect the Ivorian midfielder to honour his contract.
Hamad Al Suwaidi, member of the club's board of directors, insisted they have not received any communication from either Ahli or the player after Diaky had been reported to have said he was looking to join the Dubai club.
"He has a contract with us that run until the end of the 2014 season and as such any move from either the player or any club will have to go through us," he said.
"We are unaware of any negotiation. All we have heard is through a section of the media. Diaky has a contract that runs up to the end of 2014 and we would like to see it honoured.
"Diaky, anyway, is a very important player for us and we will not release him without a good reason.
"He is going through a lean period and we understand his frustration. We are confident though; he will reach the same high level which he has shown in the past and continue to contribute to the success of Jazira."
Diaky, who turns 31 tomorrow, has been left frustrated in recent times due to his lack of presence in the club line-up in the last 10 games.
He was reported ill and did not travel with the team in their 3-1 win over Baniyas on Monday.
He has also been relieved of the captaincy with the armband now worn by Ricardo Oliveira, the Brazilian forward.
